Our Classes

K9capers is pleased to offer classes in Rally, Obedience, and Agility at various levels from beginner through advanced. There is a class for every age and every stage!  Through positive reinforcement, toys, and treats, you and your dog can accomplish all that you desire- whether it be a faithful family member or a competitive performance dog.

The popular AKC STAR Puppy Class  provides the socialization and early training that your pup needs for a great start in life. Upon completion of the six week class, your pup will receive the American Kennel Club STAR puppy certification and will be ready to take on the world!  The Basic class is for dogs nine months and older and is a foundation for all other classes. We will work on walking nicely on a leash, sits, downs, manners, and the ever important recall. The Canine Good Citizen class will teach your dog the skills needed to pass the AKC CGC test- a must for the future therapy dog or a well behaved family member.

Rally Is a fun class in which dogs are asked to perform various exercises at stations on a numbered course. Skills are taught at the beginner level.  At the Advanced/Excellent level the dog will learn to work through distractions as we fine tune skills. Agility. In Foundations we will use toys, treats, and games to build focus, drive, self control, and body awareness which will provide your future agility dog with a fabulous foundation. Advanced agility classes will work on course analysis, handling skills, and choosing the best options for your dog on a course.  We will continue to work on focus, form, and working through distractions.

There are six classes per session, and a new session starts about every eight weeks. Classes are 45 minutes to an hour long and there are six dogs enrolled in each class, though the puppy class may have up to 8 dogs. K9capers rents space at various locations throughout Central New York in which to hold classes. There is a current class schedule and registration form on this website. To reserve a spot in class, you may download a registration form and mail it with a check and your dog's vaccination records to the address on the form.
